GARRETT

Hi everyone,
I am Tammy or Garrett'smom. Garrett got to meet Keith before the show and I must say Keith is a wondreful person. Garrett and Keith sat on the floor in the hall and garrett told him about how he listens to his cd's at the hospital and on the way to and from the hospital. Keith asked garrett what his favorite song was and he told him it was the jeans on. Garrett also gave Keith a teddy bear that is like the one he takes to the hospital because Garrett though that Keith needed one too.
Thanks for everyones excitement for Garrett. He was really happy about the whole experience. He has been really walking around extremely happy today. For those of you who do not know, Garrett has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, or ALL. He was diagnosed almost two years ago. The treament is a three year process and has about an 85% recovery rate, even with those odds we are not putting the cart before the horse. The first year we were at the hospital at least weekly and he would receice a spinal tap every three weeks. Thats when his hair was all out and looked just like any other person receiving chemotherapy. Now he only has to go to the hospital about every three weeks and gets his spinal every third appointment. We live about 45 minutes from Childrens mercy in Kansas City. The entire ride to and from the hospital is spent listening to Keith, and any time he has a procedure at the hospital it is spent listening to, yes, Keith. As any one who was at the KC concert can tell, his favorite song is "Jeans On".
We really appreciate all the nice things people had to say to Garrett after the concert

My favorite part of the whole night was when Garrett got to go up on stage. I met Garrett and his mom while waiting in line for these tickets and have been praying ever since that he would get the chance to meet Keith. I started to cry when Garrett got up on the stage b/c I was so happy and it was so sweet and genuine. People who aren't true fans of Keith can say whatever they want b/c if they don't know he's the real thing then I don't want to waste my time on him. After seeing that I knew there is no way to fake that kind of kindness and he was soooooooooo great with him. Moving the microphone so he could reach and it really seemed like to Keith it was just him and Garrett breaking it down and they were the only ones there. If I hadn't loved that man more than possible already that would have done it!
