Green's mile: RuckusFilm earns Emmy for 'Live' songwriter fest Green turned to gold for RuckusFilm at the Midsouth regional Emmys, when the film production company picked up an award for "Live From Green's Grocery." The show, taped at Leiper's Fork's legendary Green's Grocery, featured the likes of Garth Brooks, Wynonna, Chely Wright and Keith Urban and was a benefit for the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Playing on the theme of RuckusFilm's "Live At the Bluebird Cafe," it featured the entertainers and their songwriter friends, and was designed to call attention to the value of the songwriter, says Brittany Hailes, assistant producer. "We wanted to show how the song gets made, why the writer is so important," Hailes says. "And when you're working with Garth, Wynonna, Keith, you can't go wrong." "Live from Green's Grocery" won the Special Event Program Live category, a division that can be tough because of its format. "When we tape a live show, what you see is what you get – there's no redo," Hailes says. "They get in there and play to the audience, not the camera, and they don't worry about how it's going to look on television." The show, like the Bluebird series, is carried on Turner South Network, which one day may be shown in Nashville. |
