Britney trumps Kylie By Peter Mitchell February 14, 2005 - 5:21PM Britney Spears bumped Kylie Minogue off the winner's podium and Australian country superstar Keith Urban was chased out of town by Loretta Lynn and Tim McGraw at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles today. Urban, with two nominations, had been Australia's best bet, but he went home empty-handed. "As a kid growing up back in Australia, I never thought I'd ever have a chance to be here," Urban said on the green carpet before the Grammy ceremony began at LA's Staples Centre. The 37-year-old was raised on a five-hectare farm near Caboolture north of Brisbane. He is now one of Nashville's biggest stars and was nominated for best country album, the platinum selling Be Here, and male country vocal performance, for his song You'll Think of Me. |
