AUSTRALIAN FAN CLUB NEWS, SENT TO MEMBERS TONIGHT Hi all, We have just received a very excited phone call from the USA to advise Keith has just won the CMA "BEST MALE VOCAL". Reports are coming through that when Keith's name was called as the winner, the entire theatre erupted in applause and standing ovations. Keith's acceptance speech was delivered with tears emotion and his characteristic modesty. Sources advise this was an acceptance speech he did not believe he would be needing to deliver on the night. |

Keith Urban takes US country music prize Keith Urban has won the 'Male Vocalist of the Year' award at the 38th annual Country Music Association awards in the United States. Urban beat four other artists to pick up his first CMA 'Male Vocalist of the Year' award. Moments earlier Urban had the audience singing along to a performance of his Days Go By. "I am so dumbfounded, I don't know what to say," Urban said on the show telecast from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. "I am so glad my mum and dad are here tonight. I thank Nashville for letting me come and make music because it's all I ever wanted to do anyway." Kenny Cheseney won the CMA's top 'Entertainer of the Year' award along with the 'Album of the Year' for When the Sun Goes Down. Martina McBride added another 'Female Vocalist of the Year' award to her collection. The Horizon award, which Urban won in 2001, went to Gretchen Wilson, who toned down her "redneck woman" persona for the ballad When I Think About Cheatin'. |
